Should I Buy a Blueway Air Conditioner?

Right now we have a 24,000 btu Blueway Air Conditioner with 6000watt cooling capacity in our main living area that has been working very well. It manages to cool the area fairly well, given that the odd shape of the room. I’ve previously written a review of the Blueway AS24-VR, so you read the full review here.

Blueway Split Inverter Air Conditioner

We are now looking for a split inverter air conditioner to put in the master bedroom once it is finished. I was thinking about getting another inverter Blueway Air Conditioner as our other one has worked out pretty well. Continue Reading →

Under the House is Finally Sheeted!

We finally got the plasterboard sheeting up on the walls under the house. Originally it should have been up in December, but because of some problems that we had with water leaking under the house it had to be postponed until the leaks were fixed.

Second Bedroom Sheeted

Looking Down the Hallway SheetingIt might not look like much to you, but for us getting the sheeting up is a huge step in getting our house to the point where we can actually live in the bottom half of it. We should have been in there by Christmas 2006, so it will nice to finally get there.

The plastering should be finished this week, if it stops raining. The high humidity slows down the drying process for the plaster, which adds a lot to the time required for the plasterer to complete the job.

Once the plastering is done then comes the time consuming job of painting the walls and ceilings under the house. At least it will be inside though, so if it’s raining or dark out I can still paint.

Installing our “Rainy Day” Clothesline

We installed a clothesline in our garage over the weekend so that we could wash clothes even on the rainy days. We don’t have a drier, so we need to dry our clothes on a clothesline, which doesn’t work so well on the backyard clothesline when it is raining.

Collapsible Clothesline in our Garage

I was able to reuse our old clothesline that had been mounted on the back of the house before we lifted our house. It had been sitting in the garden for almost two years now (I can’t believe it has really been that long…) so it needed a good clean, but it is still in good working order. Continue Reading →

Palm Tree Knocked Down by This Weeks Strong Wind

palm-tree-fallen-on-houseA tree in front of our friends place was blown over with the strong 90km per hour winds we have had in Townsville this week.

The tree was rotted out at the bottom and infested with termites from what Josiah said.

I’ve had to cut down a few different palm trees since we moved into our house because of rot or ant / termite infestation. It seems that if the palm trees get damaged or too water logged they are ripe for infestation. Thankfully I cut down our palm trees before we had the strong winds.

The house in the photo has undergone a lot of renovations in the last few years. I can garantee that they would not be very happy with the tree coming down on their fixed up roof and gutters.
